I have to say first of all that I love the fact that "Others" are an accepted part of society, or at least tolerated. I think its great that witches, vampires, and shifters are considered part of society in this book, a minority maybe but not just fiction. I also liked how he used the 911 tragedy to help bring them into the mix, it's great that the "Others" stepped up and helped in this book and were eventually granted rights. Well not everyone is at risk, when you have a job to do and don't know who to trust where do you turn? What started out as a simple fact finding mission to pull her business out of the red ends up being a life and death situation.

Shiarra was a strong character put in a tough position and she did the best she could to keep herself alive and protect her family. I liked the fact that her and her best friend/business partner Sara made a name for themselves in what's generally thought to be a mans industry. I mean we see female cops and women in the military but there's always that mantality that it's too dangerous, these women made a business and a name for themselves in a Private Invistigator business. Granted they mainly handled surveillance but she didn't back down from a tough job and they got it done together(with a little help).

Chaz... A werewolf and Shia's ex, I definitely liked his character and can't wait to read more about him in the next book(really hoping he's still around). Men are the same of any species I guess, hello how could he not know why she was pissed at him and what in the world was he thinking telling her that way to begin with! I was glad when he came back into the story to help and that Shia let him. An alpha were can definitely come in handy when your life is on the line. I loved the scene with him and Arnold at Shia's house for the birthday party. Arnold was a mage and a geek! His motives for helping were selfish but he ended up being a good guy to have around.

This book definitely kept me guessing and I can't wait to read the next one...

Thought this was a great read. Shiarra had lots of hard choices to make and I'm glad everything worked out for her. I'm curious what will happen with the White Hats. Kind of creepy that Shiarra keeps finding those pins everwhere.
I didn't think she would end up giving Chaz another shot, I thought she might end up with Arnold or Royce. Hoping to find out more about Shiarra and Royce, just feels like somethings going to happen there. Especially with her saving all his letters and cards. I don't know, I'm just a sucker for a sexy vamp I guess Wink
Can't wait to read the next book and see whats in store for Shiarra and sara!

Definitely enjoyed Royce! The trouble I could get in with him, I'd definitely sign those papers just so I could have a night with him but I've been fantasizing about vamps for awhile now! Love the dominant nature they all have, and the whole immortal thing is cool, not saying I'd like to live forever but an extra few years with an amazing hottie would be nice!!!

LOL, thank you, ladies! Glad you enjoyed the book.

If you want a few non-spoilery extras, I have links on my website to guest posts I did for bloggers where the cast were all messing around and chatting about various topics:

To start, you might enjoy the one with Shia, Royce and Chaz talking about what it means to be alpha or maybe the one where they discuss vampire reproduction. Very Happy

Thanks for joining us Jess, I'll definitely be checking out the links you posted.

I was just curious who was your favorite character to write in this book and who was the most difficult?

My favorite to write was Arnold. There are so many things about the geek culture that I was itching to utilize, and it was a lot of fun making someone like him likeable. He's like a conglomeration of all of the things I love about some of the most interesting and awesome people I've ever known.

As for the most difficult, I'd say it was Shia's mom. It was literally painful to write some of that stuff, because it was so similar to conversations I've had with my own mom now and then (albeit missing the supernatural element). Wink

i really liked this book. i thought it was a great story. there were so many strong characters and i never knew what was going to happen next which is a nice change of pace since many books are very predictable. i loved the birthday party scene it was a great show of "territorial man" ha ha. i am glad shia ended back up with chaz and i hope their story continues into the next book. i am also curious to see how things play out with royce in the next novel as well i enjoyed him a lot as well. what i was left unclear with in the end is shia and royce's contract... i am assuming it is still active since there was no mention of it beimg void, i am very excited to see how that comes into play with shia and royce in the next book since royce made it obvious he would like a relationship with shia.... can't wait to read on. Smile
