Mythic by Jae Lynne Davies(Book Club 7) May include spoilers!

This book kept me guessing, and I absolutely fell in love with the characters.

Gianna's character was so intriguing for me! She was a strong, smart,
and sexy "Dhamphire" who had my attention from the beginning. I felt connected to Gianna and couldn't help but to empathize with her. Gianna had many tough decisions to make throughout this book and I can't wait to see how she handles herself in the next.

Nicholas came to London in hopes to trade information for his fathers life and to help protect their coven... He got so much more, for a while anyways... I loved the chemistry that he and Gianna had and was a little upset with how it ended in this book and want to see what will happen next! Are we sensing a pattern here? This book left me wondering what's going to happen and unfortunately the second book hasn't come out yet(Blood Moon only 40% finished according to her web page)!

Mattias' character was oh so tempting and extremely mysterious! Just when I thought I knew what he was about Mrs. Davies threw me a curve ball! This SEXY leader of the strongest coven in Europe was not at all what he seemed!

I liked the fact that in Mythic Vampires evolved and had different sub-species like "Dhamphires" and also not all Vampires had the same weaknesses. Some had evolved so they could walk in sunlight... Nicholas had a reflection... I'm not sure if other vampires had these traits, some did in fact turn to ash with the sun! This book brought up so many questions for me and I'm definitely going to keep tabs on Blood Moon because Dante definitely piqued my interests!

Who was your favorite character?

I loved this book! It kept me guessing as well just when i thought Mattias was the head of an evil empire the switch flipped completely! I was upset how things turned out with Nicholas but it seems that story isn't over yet. I'm excited about the next book!

I agree with you guys, Can't wait for the next book! I did feel bad for Nicholas, they seemed so perfect together. Then there's Mathias, after finding out how he had been helping her and her parents, how could you not fall for him as well. I also loved how they weren't your typical Vamp, how they each were different.
Dante's book is going to be awesome! can't wait to read more.

Ooh, I'm so happy to hear you all enjoyed the read. Obviously Gianna's story continues and her relationship woes between the men she cares for are far from over. Dante is being a bit difficult at the moment. In fact, he took me in an interesting direction last night. Can't wait to share!

I can't wait to read Dante's story! I'm sure it will be just as hard to put down! I'm already wondering how the Greek Gods are going to play out & how Gianna is going to handle Dante. Also if Nicholas will show up. Lol can't wait!

Actually I guess a couple questions about this book, what made you decide to have the vampires evolving and have reflections, is that something specific to your books or have you read it in other stories?

I really enjoyed the scene where Sofia was turned, I was hoping that something like that would happen when we learned both hers and Mr. Sutton's stories! It was nice that they found each other, I was also glad Sofia and Gianna's mother are now both available to her, even if Sofia is an Ocean away it was nice that she made another appearance.

I loved that Gianna was Telekinetic and that her powers were linked to her emotions. I can't wait to see her have complete control over them.

Great question!

When I first began to build my version of London and the characters in the world of Mythic, I spent a lot of time researching. I've loved the idea of vampires for most of my life, but I knew if I was going to write something, my idea needed to be different.

When the time came to gift abilities and powers to my vamps, several thing ran through my mind. I began comparing my vampire race to the human race. As a whole, humans can't breathe under water, we can't fly, and when we're cut, we bleed. All basic facts we're all familiar with. Yet we're all capable of doing different things that make us unique.

I took the same concept and began with a few basic facts about vampires. They need human blood to survive, sun is a weakness (not necessarily fatal), and they all possess extreme physical beauty and unnatural reflexes.

But as you've seen, some of my vampires can do things that others can't. For example, Nicholas and Kyle move faster than most vampires. Mattias has the power of manipulation to a point of seduction. He can make someone so comfortable that they spill their deepest, darkest secrets. And you haven't seen what he's REALLY capable of...yet.

The Dhampires are a more complex race, being as there are so few of them. But, since hybrids are part vampire, part human, they are the perfect predators.

Another question... Gianna's telepathic ability was connected to her emotions, is that the same for all vampire or dhamphire abilities? Grace suggested that Mattias could help Gianna gain more control over her abilities... is that because he's also a dhamphire?

Yes. Any dhampire you’ll meet in the world of Mythic will have their abilities linked to their emotions. The question is, which emotion? The reason for this link is due to the added complication of humanity to their genetic makeup. Being half vampire is one thing, being half human is another. The two halves are constantly at war.

While Mattias has learned to control his emotions to play his role in vampire society, we have yet to see how he reacts when backed into a corner in a near impossible situation he might not be able to talk himself out of.

Gianna is a bit different. Because of her disconnect, she doesn’t have control of her telekinesis the way Mattias has of his ability. And because Mattias is more than twice Gianna's age, Grace knows that he’s had a lot of time to learn self-control, and can teach Gianna how to master her power. But, I can tell you this…You WILL get the opportunity to see what happens when Mattias unleashes his full potential.
