"Victory or Death," I retorted at my captor hoarsely. "For the Horde. And for the record, shouting World of Warcraft battle cries kind of kills the whole 'imminent death' expectation."
Okay I'm not a big WOW fan but I loved this part! This dialogue in the book kept me thoroughly entertained, the characters were likeable and the plot kept me guessing. I liked the mix of Fae, Daemon, and Angels as well as the CrossRoads. I don't know a lot about the general mythology but this worked for me.
Abby had her quirks and definitely has a lot of issues to deal with after the death of her mother and now being thrust into the middle of tragedy. Otherfolk are going missing and the only link seems to be between their Touchstones and strange paintings. Brystian is an Incubus who shows up looking for help to find his sister, in seeking the help of the Protectorate Moira he end up working side by side with Abby. The Incubus throws on the charm but both parties find themselves susceptible to attraction. The sparks fly along with the complications.
I enjoyed this book from the beginning to end and am looking forward to reading the next book in the series!
