OMG love that movie!...
So what will the theme of the 2012 ball be? Or did someone already say that and I missed it?

The masquerade theme is going to be a sort of ghostly New Orleans theme. Much scope for the imagination.

No fair calling Bowie, Stella. That way lies badly filmed girl fights. From what I remember, he was quite willing to dance with everyone... You can only call "first".

And I'm certainly not showing my age. I'm hinting at my experience.

Bowie as Jared in that movie shaped my preferences in ways I cannot comment on, but I believe that there are incriminating pictures that someone has posted on facebook.

And your right, hes colored my preferences to this day... though Im quite over the big hair and eyeliner...

ANd the makeup! Don't forget the bright blue eyeshadow slathered on like... well, I can't think of what like.

It makes goth look positively restrained, though.

Those shades of blue weren't scary looking as the goth stuff.

I don't know... I was a theatre student - Goth is less scary to me.

Of course at the time, the blue eyeshadow and big hair were all the rage, which is scary in its own way.

I remember all those shades of blue.

ooo... I've never been to a masquerade, but i've wanted to since I first watched Phantom of the Opera & Van Helsing! Is there always an overall theme for the ADD con?

The con itself has a theme in that there's kind of a plan, but there's not really a theme like there can be with cons with cosplay devotees. If there is a theme, it's more like "Come and play, have fun!" than anything else.

I tend to think of it as a flavor, more than a theme. The specific events have themes, but the convention itself is kind of like a continuous party more than a thematic event.

Next year's theme is "Summer Camp" cuz NOLA i really is an adult vacation destination. But its loose as in its just something to define the con.

The Masquerade for next year is ECHOES OF NEW ORLEANS and is a Ghost Character themed event... There will be more on it as we figure it all out.

That will help me too. Since I have never been to a Masquerade Ball anything will help. I have a couple ideas but more ideas the better!
