| I finally started reading a book. So that when i attend in 2012 I will kind of know what is going on and be able to relate to the rest of the people that go. | |

| I second that! I've always thought that a well-written book that enables the reader to completely fall into the story is sooo much fun! who needs movies? lol | |

| Pyper, obviously your boyperson needs his own ereader so you can cuddle and read together. I discovered that ereader ownership has its good points and its bad points. It's much easier to store my ebooks than all those physical books... but... it's also much easier to justify buying more books when I don't have to worry about shelf space... | |

| I know! My b/f wouldn't know what to do with an e-reader, he reads the newspaper and occasionally magazines or readers digest, I tried to get him to get readers digest on my nook but he said he probably wouldn't use it! | |

| I've been debating about investing in a good ereader to ease up on my shelving storage space, lol, any recommendations? I haven't yet bought one b/c I have the adobe program on my computer for the ebooks I buy online & I've heard some ereaders don't let you transfer those onto a new ereader... is that true? | |

| Cleopatra - Adobe DRM books are readable on all systems except Kindle, and Kindle has announced that they are enabling the format to make library books available more easily on Kindle.
As to which device - what are you looking for? I love my Sony Reader specifically because it's not network-capable (it's old, they don't make it anymore) and also have a Kobo reader that I like because it's wee and portable (and lighter than the Sony). I hated touch screens... so none of the touch versions of anything appealed to me. Kindle's buttons were placed exactly wrong for me, but I also have a philosophical bias against the Kindle for their proprietary book formats. Color screens give me a headache because they are backlit... but the Nook color gets excellent marks from people who own it. The iPad is the same - not a reader to me, but the people who have them love them.
My recommendation is to look at pricing for a range of readers, then play with all the readers you're interested in. Borrow from friends if you have the option to test reading on them.

| Pyper - I get my ebooks all over the place. Some I get directly from the publisher, or from Smashwords (smashwords.com) for backlist books. I also shop pretty frequently at All Romance eReads (ARe).
Pocket After Dark is pretty good too... I'll have to see if I can write up a list...

| Just a Hint...
All my books and MANY of the authors coming to AAD this year and next are at ARe.. and ARe is a HUGE supporter of AAD so we always tell people to buy books from them... (And as authors we get a BIGGER percentage of our sales from ARe then most places...)
So pop by and buy my books (under Stella and Audra Price, S.A. Price and Dagmar Avery) cuz I need more fans LOL.

| Since I suck and forgot to supply links -
ARe- http://www.allromanceebooks.com/ Smashwords - http://www.smashwords.com/ Pocket After Dark - http://www.smashwords.com/
For publishers that sell online, usually it's just their main site.
And! Stella's books @ ARe http://www.allromanceebooks.com/storeSearch.html?searchBy=author&qString=Stella+and+Audra+Price and http://www.allromanceebooks.com/storeSearch.html?searchBy=author&qString=Dagmar+Avery

| hey Kiki, good advice on trying out different ereaders before buying one. I've heard good things about the ipad, but the inability to read books outside seems to be counterproductive towards the device's mobility... and I agree that I too have a biased against kindle due to their formating... right now I'm looking into the nook, but I had actually forgotten about the kobo! pyper- I usually buy my ebooks from websites like ebooks.com or pocket after dark & publisher websites too.. though I didn't know about ARe, so I'm definitely going to check that out! | |

| ARe is a fabulous romance-specific site... They have a wider selection of small and specialty publishers, so it's much easier to find non-mainstream books there.
I also love Sci-fi, so keep Baen's Webscriptions page in my favorites. If you like scifi, I highly recommend them - but it's kind of off topic, so I won't post a link.

| Can someone please fill me in on all the details for AAD 2012. How many books does one think I need to read to be able to keep up at this event? | |

| Darci - You don't have to read any books ahead of time to keep up and have fun at AAD. You'll get lots of books, and recommendations for books, at the convention.
If you want to read some of the attending authors beforehand, there are posts from some of them on the blog... Do you need a link?
